After arriving on Heron Island by seaplane, we grabbed a quick bite to eat and immediately went for a walk around the island. It’s such a tiny place you could easily do it in 20 minutes at a brisk pace. It was amazing to see absolutely no other signs of land from any point. Just in that short walk, we encountered sting rays, sharks, a couple sea turtles, and lots and lots of birds. If you’re afraid of birds even a little bit, this island would be your nightmare. The ocean views were just breathtaking! We spent a lot of time with our toes in the sand. Actually, it’s not even the type of sand we are used to on the beach! Heron Island is a coral cay. So that means the island is formed by tiny bits of crushed coral. Such an unique experience!
Sometimes a day of relaxing on the beach with the girls is the best R & R you could ask for. I got a really annoying sunburn a month or so ago and now I’m hyper about making sure I’m protected from the sun. I want my super pale skin looking as young as possible for as long as possible! Other than caking on tubes of sunscreen, I wore a UPF 50+ hat and a long maxi dress topped with a luxuriously soft white Equipment blouse. Take that, Sunshine!
I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Las Vegas many times throughout my life. I’ve gotten to do the girls trips, the family trips, and the ultra romantic trips. That’s the beauty of this desert destination. There is truly something for everyone! That’s why I felt totally qualified to do a few style postings about how I would style a trip to the Aria Las Vegas for the lovely people of Vegas.com. This hotel is absolutely stunning and a premier Vegas destination, so how could I pass up something like that?
Of course, whenever I visit, I start my days at the pool so that’s where we will start my styling posts (even though I’m in San Diego for the pics). To me, Vegas is all about glitz and glamour all day and all night. So don’t be afraid to add some fun accessories! Of course, you’ll need your beach bag for tons of sunscreen, magazines, and a bit of cash for a poolside beverage. Go for some short shorts and nude sandals for a great leg lengthening effect. Just be careful with your shoe choice. Don’t be the girl at the pool at noon in stilettos.

My friend recently had a Hippy Chic themed birthday brunch in Ocean Beach. Why don’t we do themed birthday parties anymore?! It was really fun to get dressed up with a specific idea in mind. The birthday girl even made us all flower headbands to wear at brunch. Let’s bring back themed parties!! This is my take on a modern hippy look.
When I think of hiking in Hawaii, I think lush tropical flowers, waterfalls, and vine canopied trails. Not so much on this hike. The manager of the house we rented suggested we take a hike to the Northern tip of Oahu to catch a glimpse of seals lounging on the beach and get an amazing sunset view. Sounded great!
Well, the hike was not exactly as described. It was essentially an off-roading track thats main features included tire tracks, empty beer cans, and panties left behind. Not exactly the picturesque trail we were expecting. We turned back after talking to someone that said we had a long ways to go… by car. Since we didn’t want to be walking back in the dark and wine on the beach sounded so much better, we turned around.
The best part was climbing over the rocks along the beach. Here are some shots of that portion of our walk. The moral of the story, take advice with a grain of salt and make the time to research the destination yourself. Oopsy!
I’m getting to the age now that most of my friends are getting married and having kids. So what that means is there are a lot of fun times to be had celebrating these life events! Today, we celebrated our good friend’s daughter’s third birthday on the beach in Coronado. It’s a gorgeous day for some fun in the sun: we splashed in the water, played with bubbles, and enjoyed some yummy cupcakes.
The water was too cold for my liking so I stuck to the shore in some bermuda shorts, a bandeau top, and a cover up. Of course, I needed my trusty UPF 50+ protection hat to shield my face. I want to look 25 when I’m 50 after all!! Who doesn’t?! This Wildfox coverup is one of my favorites! It’s perfect for walking around a beach town or over your swimsuit. I topped off my look with a chunky ocean inspired necklace (I’ve worn it before, remember?).
