This crop top is the perfect length for me. I’m not all fit and toned in the abs area so I don’t want to show more then a little peek of my tummy. So I needed something that basically hit right at where all my high waisted skirts and such would hit. Bingo! I did get a super awesome tip recently (but too late for this find) from one of my stylist buddies to look for Tall crop tops. So that way you’re getting the extra length without the extra width. Genius!
I’m not sure why but I love food shaped/printed clothing and accessories. They just make me happy in the silliest way possible! This watermelon clutch is no different. It’s essentially the easiest conversation starter too!! I originally thought pairing it with this raspberry print dress would be too much but… whatever! Summers call for flowy silk dresses. I love how light this dress feels! It’s going to be an easy choice for the upcoming super hot San Diego days. Gladiator sandals are really ‘in’ right now and I like the subtlety of these ones. They’re kind of a pain in the buns to get in and out of since there is no zipper and I have to relace them every time. Ah the things we do for fashion.
Sometimes a little simplicity can go a long way. Not every outfit needs to be full of color and patterns. A simple look like this relies on the fit of the clothing to make it chic. I also matched my bag to my shoes to make the look appear more intentional and not just grab-and-go.

Oh Sydney. You are so beautiful. It was a stunning few days we spent in Sydney for the end of our Australia visit. Never a cloud in the sky and the temps were perfect for a full day of wandering. We really enjoyed visiting the tourist sites like the Sydney Harbor Bridge, the Opera House, and the Royal Botanic Gardens. It was a bit windy along the harbor so I totally had a Marilyn moment or two (or three!). Sorry about that folks! I miss this place so much.
Normally I’m the most girly of all girly girls but sometimes I just need a comfy top and denim type of day. Scored this ridiculously soft Bella Dahl top at the Bloomingdale’s friends and family sale. It’s so soft it’s like daytime appropriate pajamas! The high side slit gives it a little more of a sexy vibe than its “I borrowed this from my boyfriend” counterparts. If you aren’t being ironic by pairing your plaid shirt with a fluffy skirt or sparkles than distressed denim is just an easy “Do”.
This perfume bottle purse is just too fun for words. We spotted this gem walking home from dinner one night and I had to go back and get it the next morning! It was at one of my favorite vintage and novelty shops in San Diego called Bad Madge. It’s a fantastic destination for unique gifts and really really cool vintage pieces.
When RedEnvelope contacted me about joining their #RedStyle campaign, I was quick to jump. Not only is RedEnvelope a company I’ve used for years for great gift ideas but the campaign is all about embracing your personal style. I think what’s so fun about blogging and fashion is that we get to share with everyone our mood, inspirations, and style just by what we decide to put on that day. I describe my personal style as classic with a twist. I tend to gravitate toward classic shapes but also love fun pops of color and loud prints. I also like accessories and such that have a little humor to it, like my Kate Spade donut bag or the “Shopping is My Cardio” Wildfox sweater. I included my mary jane Manolo Blahniks because they are the very first designer thing I ever purchased. They’re classic is shape but the twist is the bright and shinny patent leather. A perfect epitome of my style! As far as jewelry goes, I’m usually getting ready in a rush so I like to be able to grab something like a giant Samantha Wills ring or a huge gold chain vintage necklace. A statement piece can really pull your look together!
Another aspect to my style is blending designer pieces with stuff I’ve found at the Goodwill or vintage shops. That’s truly when I feel most me. The gorgeous gold and black lace skirt and the beat up old Coach crossbody bag are probably some of my most favorite things in my closet! I have no problems with second hand clothing and sometimes it’s amazing what you’ll find! It’s just what you didn’t know you always wanted!
How do you describe your personal style?
My friend recently had a Hippy Chic themed birthday brunch in Ocean Beach. Why don’t we do themed birthday parties anymore?! It was really fun to get dressed up with a specific idea in mind. The birthday girl even made us all flower headbands to wear at brunch. Let’s bring back themed parties!! This is my take on a modern hippy look.
