LookBook: Spring Transition

chelshoot2-4In San Diego, transitioning from winter to spring isn’t as extreme as most places (I’m looking at you, New York!) but there are a few things I look forward to still.  I move my heavier coats into the garage and dig through my shorts to remind myself and my white legs what I own.  I’ve come to embrace my paleness and don’t bother with sunless tanners anymore.  I get tempted by the latest greatest sunless tanners on the market but I’ve never found one that looks quite right.  Oh well!!  I’m still taking these pale legs out!  My favorite way to transition into spring/summer is to wear shorts with a sweater or jacket.  It’s a comfy easy way to layer for the cool evenings.

P.S.- I found this rad Chanel bag at a consignment store here in San Diego.  I basically fell on the floor when I found it.  My momma taught me never to pay full price for anything (not that buying a Chanel 2.55 full price was ever an option)!  Try checking out online consigners like Shop-Hers or TheRealReal to score your designer deal.

LookBook: Plaid and Perfume

DSC_0037

Normally I’m the most girly of all girly girls but sometimes I just need a comfy top and denim type of day.  Scored this ridiculously soft Bella Dahl top at the Bloomingdale’s friends and family sale.  It’s so soft it’s like daytime appropriate pajamas!  The high side slit gives it a little more of a sexy vibe than its “I borrowed this from my boyfriend” counterparts.  If you aren’t being ironic by pairing your plaid shirt with a fluffy skirt or sparkles than distressed denim is just an easy “Do”.

This perfume bottle purse is just too fun for words.  We spotted this gem walking home from dinner one night and I had to go back and get it the next morning!  It was at one of my favorite vintage and novelty shops in San Diego called Bad Madge.  It’s a fantastic destination for unique gifts and really really cool vintage pieces.

Blue Skies, White Pants

DSC_0055White pants always make me feel like I’m on vacation.  It’s what I’d wear if I were walking along some beach town, soaking up the sun, and enjoying a beautiful new destination.  So when the sun shines and we’re heading toward the water, white pants always seem to be the perfect fit for the occasion.  Even if the occasion is just lunch!

This is Day 3 of my Take One, Pass it on challenge.  My remixed item for today is pink Dolce Vita pink snake print  sandals.  Check the bottom of this post to see the 3 day Remix Roundup.

What I Wore: Cobalt Blue

DSC_0024

Cobalt blue is really having a moment right now.  I’m stoked because blue works for my skin tone.  The pale pastels that are coming out this spring though… not so much.  So I’ll stick with beautiful bright blue cobalt, please!  I totally scored this skirt on mega sale at J.Crew after the holidays and this shirt from the Peter Pilotto for Target collection was purchased with a gift card.  Don’t you love a good deal?!  I know it’s strange but I love the things I’ve found a deal on more than the things I’ve paid full price for!  I guess that’s the frugalista in me.

Monday Must-Have Lust List: Peter Pilotto for Target

peter-pilotto-targetI for one am not tired at all of all these designer collaborations.  Doesn’t the saying go “Two minds are better than one” after all?  Well the Peter Pilotto for Target collaboration is no exception.  It’s colorful, loud, and just plain fun!  These pieces mix and match well together or can add a pop to jeans and plain tees.  The pattern guru did not tone down his love for mixing unexpected colors and graphics for this collection, which is a refreshing aspect of this collaboration. Often we see designers try to become more “mainstream.”  Maybe the mainstream is becoming more accepting of outside-the-box designer creations or maybe Peter Pilotto just went for it.  Either way, this collection has been a smash hit in the blogosphere.  Collection launched at Target stores and Target.com today 2/10/2014.

I didn’t make it to the store but I was able to nab the pieces below online.  Stay tuned for posts on how I style these babies.Peter Pilotto

Lust List: Roses and Peonies

Every spring, inevitably floral prints make their way back into our wardrobe.  I can’t help but giggle a little inside when I think about spring florals because of the line from Devil Wears Prada where Miranda drawls, “Florals?  For spring?  Groundbreaking.”  This year, it’s not just bright florals in general, roses and peonies are having their turn in the limelight.  You guys know I have a small obsession with roses so I’m in fashion heaven!  I’ve put together a handful of my favorite prints available right now.  Happy  lusting!
