Sometimes a shoe comes into your life and sweeps you away. We had actually used these babies recently in a Nordstrom Fashion Show I worked and I couldn’t leave without them. They’re definitely a show stopper! Not to mention platforms are so in right now. This skirt is actually shorts with heavy pleating on the front to give the illusion of a skirt. I would never be comfortable in an actual skirt that short! One gust of wind and you guys would all be getting a show! No, Thank You!
As if Fiji wasn’t the hands down most romantic place ever, just add a fancy lobster dinner literally over the water! Tokoriki Island Resort went over the top to make us feel like we were the only two people in the whole place. With a moment like that, it required a very special outfit. I decided to wear a jumpsuit with an open back for an understated but super sexy appeal. I added just a single sparkly bracelet and fun (but still subtle in the taupe shade) gladiator heels. I felt like a million bucks! If you ever have the pleasure of visiting Tokoriki Island Resort, you MUST do the romantic lobster dinner! It was an absolute highlight of our visit.
I read somewhere recently that said the boho look was dead. How could boho possibly be dead when music festival season is just getting started?! I’m choosing to ignore this piece of fashion advice. To me, music festivals are where we bring out our most Woodstock-worthy attire. Not to mention hats and long flowy cardigans are just plain practical when you’re standing outside in the blazing sun for hours.
My last look’s hat would be perfect for a music festival so was easily remixed for the Take One, Pass It On Challenge. This lacy fringe cardigan will look great as I’m dancing too! These types of festivals can also get super dusty or muddy depending on the weather so be sure to not wear your best shoes. These beat up old vintage Coach boots are comfortable and if they get more wear it’ll only make them better at this point. I chose to forgo my usual black eyeliner and kept my makeup to a minimum. That way, after a long day in the sun, I won’t end up with the dreaded raccoon eyes. I used MAC pigment powder in Rose Gold for my shadow, dabbed a little underneath for definition, added a touch of mascara and that’s it!
And P.S. – Don’t forget tons of sunscreen!

3 DAY REMIX ROUNDUP
Man did it snow last night! I’m not sure how many inches the weather man said it snowed but it had to have been about 3 inches. But the next day, blue skies were peeking through all day to make for some beautiful “exploring the city” weather. I definitely wore gloves when we were really walking around but as long as there was no wind, I was fine in my super thick sweater and this wool sleeveless vest. I protected my ears (a must for me in cold weather!) with a turban-like head wrap. I did wear my leather boots around town a lot because the sole of my winter boots cracked the first day there! Doh! So I just was religious about wiping them down to avoid any water/salt damage. They seem to be doing OK so make sure you do the same if you’re wearing leather shoes in this kind of weather.
There’s basically nothing I love more than a comfy new sweater. You know, before the fleece inside gets all pilly and rough? So I’m all bundled up to face the brisk cool Washington air and I couldn’t be happier. Spending time with family over the holidays is so special and important to me. I’m so lucky that both my boyfriend and my family live near each other so we get double the family time in one trip! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and have recovered from all the Black Friday shopping madness!
Jackets with contrasting sleeves are simply everywhere right now. They make every outfit look like you’re an expert at that ever so chic winter layers look. I paired this fun denim and terry cloth Gilt.com find with a few more layers. There’s a simple white tank and a thunderbolt tunic under there too! I can’t help but reiterate my love of vintage here (again… sorry!) by topping off this look with a pair of beat up vintage Coach boots. They’re so deliciously soft now that I’ll wear these babies until they fall apart!
Boots!! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am about being able to wear my boots again. They make me feel pulled together even when I’m just wearing jeans and a tank. These ones from Stuart Weitzman work with basically everything and have a thin enough calf that I can’t wear them on their own. Three cheers for no slouching!
