Monday Must-Have Lust List: Ugly Christmas Sweater Edition

I love a good ugly Christmas sweater.  I just can’t help but smile!  My family is even wearing them on actual Christmas day!  It’ll make for some pretty awesome family photos, that’s for sure.  It’s fun to hunt the Goodwill for a great unique sweater but they get pretty picked over this time of year.  Luckily, the ugly Christmas sweater theme is really popular so sweaters are available at regular retail locations.  Here are some of my favorite picks from my search this year.

1) SUPER FUN BACKPACK

After my last vacation, I realized I really need a backpack for when I’m traveling.  It’d be nice when I’m at the airport and on the go to just throw my bag over my shoulders and be hands fee.  I was using this big messenger bag and it was so heavy and annoying to drag around!  So on the hunt I go!  I found a few really cool options like a Vince Camuto Convertable Backpack and a gorgeous B Brain Atwood.  But I think the winner is this Patent Croc Topshop one!  It’s a good size that I can pack some essentials (and some non-essentials… hehehe) but not too huge so it’ll work for every day too.  Sold!

2) BENEFIT COSMETICS ADVENT CALENDAR

Holy smokes this is the most amazing idea ever!  Not only do I love Christmas and traditional treat-filled advent calendars but fill that calendar with fun Benefit products?!  Gasp!!  You get a new product every… single… day from December 1st until Christmas.  WHAT?!  It’s a dream come true!  Basically, this is the best gift ever for any beauty-holic in your life.  No doubt these will sell out fast so pick up yours today!

3) IT BY ALEXA CHUNG

Ok fashionistas, how much do we love Alexa Chung?  I mean, her style is so fabulous it boarders on a level of insanity!  The good insanity that makes us all say “Damn, that’s freakin’ awesome!”  So when I heard she was penning her first book, I pre-ordered immediately.  It came out on October 29th and Amazon promptly delivered it that day!  I’m looking forward to sitting down to read this “It Girl’s” book sooner rather than later!  If you’ve had a chance to read it already, what did you think?

4) SOCIAL MEDIA OVER HALLOWEEN

I forget every year how amazing and sometimes totally hysterical it is to see everyone’s Halloween shenanigans on social media.  You guys have gone crazy with all your awesome costumes!  Celebrities seemed to be extra creative this year too!  What did you go as?  What celebrity do you think had the best costume this year?

5) WILDFOX PAJAMAS

I’m a fan of Wildfox’s fun whimsical designs (see here and here) so I love that they’ve expanded into PJs!  Their cheeky designs and saying always make me smile and laugh.  These are a few of my favs from the new collection.

Resort Review: The Kahala Resort

Rainbow over Hawaii

I don’t even know where to start with The Kahala Resort.  It’s so luxurious and amazing!  Coming here was a total surprise from my honey for our 4 year so as we walked in, I was floored.  Not to mention my eyes welled up with excitement when I saw the dolphins (see my last post for pictures of the happiest girl in the world and her dolphin pal).

We might be the luckiest people to have gotten an upgrade to the 9th floor with views of the ocean and the dolphin lagoon.  We were able to sit on the balcony, enjoy our celebratory mimosas, and watch the dolphins play frisbee with their trainers.  The Kahala is also a hugely popular place for weddings and we saw at least 3 happening daily.

The resort is a place for relaxation and since cabanas come with the room, we spent many hours soaking up some rays, eating lunch in the sand, and snorkeling the reef that starts just feet from the shore.  You can paddle board, kayak, and do yoga classes on a paddle board as well but we decided to be lazy so swimming and snorkeling were our activities of choice.

The Kahala is also home to Aracino, one of the best Italian restaurants we’ve ever been to.  We had the 5 course meal with wine pairing and could hardly believe how delicious everything was.  The service was amazing as well and they were able to answer all Tyler’s questions about the meal (he’s an aspiring chef so there were many questions!).  If you’re on Oahu, I highly recommend coming here for dinner.  It’s one of the top 3 meals I’ve ever had so this is an absolute must-visit in my book.

Overall, The Kahala has everything a relaxing Hawaiian resort should have.  I did not want to go home at all after staying here.  I mean, life is good but there’s just something about a vacation that makes everything even rosier.  5 stars Kahala… 5 stars…

Awesome day

Today is awesome.  Why, you ask?  Well other than my super “Awesome” Topshop sweater, it just is!  So I felt like wearing hot read lipstick for no reason other than it felt like a red lipstick kind of day!  Do we really need a better reason?!

Monday Must-Haves: 5 Items on My Weekly Lust List

Welcome to my first weekly Monday Must-Have Lust List!  Every Monday, I’ll share with you five of the things I’m currently obsessing over.  It can be anything from shoes (duh!), movies, books, beauty products, trends, places… you name it!   Call it my weekly inspiration board!  Happy lusting!

Man Repeller Book

1) THE RELEASE OF MAN REPELLER: SEEKING LOVE, FINDING OVERALLS

As a regular reader of Leandra Medine’s blog, I’m really looking forward to her debut book!  She has a sharp engaging writing style that’s sure to make you laugh, cringe, and totally relate all at the same time.  It’s like Chelsea Handler meets Fashion Police meets Rachel Zoe.  If you’re a hopeless fashion addict with an unabashed love for a little sarcasm, I believe you will not be disappointed.

Releases September 10, 2013.  Pick up your copy here!

2) 3.1 PHILLIP LIM FOR TARGET LAUNCH

OMG!  All this talk about 3.1 Phillip Lim’s collaboration for Target has got my mind on fire!  The designer’s obvious skill can now be enjoyed for a fraction of the brand’s regular prices.  Have you seen all those beautiful handbags?!  Swoon!  How about the fun graphic tops?!  So on trend!  The evening dresses?!  Perfection!  You can count on me being front and center at this Sunday’s release!

Lauches September 15, 2013.  Check out the preview here!

3) NEW YORK FASHION WEEK STREET STYLE

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know New York Fashion Week is underway. One of my favorite things about the fashion weeks all around the world is checking out the amazing street style.  It’s fun to see how real women wear the trends.  The photos are infinitely inspiring, often outlandish, devilishly daring, and always stylish! Don’t worry… it won’t be long until you see my photo among these!  😉

Some of my favorite websites for street style photos are The Sartorialist, Style.com, W Magazine, and Jak & Jil.

4) TOPSHOP ‘AWESOME’ POLKA DOT SWEATSHIRT

I probably need to move somewhere that sweaters, pants, and jackets are a more regular occurrence because I tend to be supremely drawn to them.  When I saw this sweater, it was immediately added to my shopping cart and my mind began creating outfits with this, well, awesome sweater!  Officially obsessed.  Available Here!

5) CHANEL LES BEIGES HEALTHY GLOW SHEER COLOUR SPF15

The luxury brand is at it again creating more irresistibly tempting beauty products.  This sheer glow powder sounds like it will be perfect for those of us living in more humid climates.  At least for me, when humidity strikes, there’s no point in wearing any foundation because it’ll just melt off anyway!  A nice powder like this with just a hint of color might be just the ticket!  I’m looking forward to picking up this product soon!

Try it for yourself!
