Up In The Air

image

Man, I am so not a fan of flying.  I love travel, experiencing new places and cultures, and sampling my way through new foods but I just don’t like the act of travel.  So I distract myself by taking pictures, reading magazines, and catching up on shows like Game of Thrones and The Sopranos that I’ve downloaded.  These pics are from my last flight to Washington for a bit of crabbing and 4th of July festivities.

Wine Tasting in Washington

DSC_0073

So I’ve been a really bad blogger and am so incredibly behind on all my photos!  For those of you that follow me on my social media outlets (Thank you!!), you know that I went to Washington for Mother’s Day.  It was probably the most beautiful I’ve seen Washington since I tend to visit in the rainy winter months.  The sun was shining and every day was pure perfection.

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we went to brunch at Columbia Winery over in Woodenville.  If you like wine & wine tasting, you’ll think you’ve died and gone to heaven in Woodenville.  There are so many tasting rooms and distilleries that it’s super hard to decide which ones to visit.

For my Mother’s Day look, I decided to go girly and modest.  My Kate Spade New York dress fit the bill perfectly.  Of course, heels were a definite must so my Givenchy floral printed pumps added a nice little touch.

Date Night Look

DSC_0062

I’m just going to be super honest here.  I’m a girly girl and I believe in girly looks for date night.  Skirts, heels, color, sparkles, etcetera are all things I gravitate toward.  It also must show off my girlish curves.  That’s why I added the belt to accentuate my waist.  The silk tank from my last look was the perfect piece to remix for this occasion.  Who doesn’t love the feel of silk on their skin?!  The moto jacket does help to even out all of this girly-ness by adding a little edge.  I mean, even a girly girl doesn’t want to turn out looking too innocent.  It’s date night after all!  Make sure to add a dash of sass.

#LOTD: Casual Faux Leather Skirt

DSC06281I got a great response last time I wore this skirt but this time I wanted to make it more casual.  It’s really a very versatile skirt now that I’ve started playing with it a little more!  To sort of tone down the fanciness of the previous look, I wore a super comfortable vintage Led Zeppelin concert tee and my favorite polka dot Kate Spade for Keds pumps.  I kept the jewelry a little bit more simple by just using delicate gold pieces.  The skirt is kind of loud on it’s on so it doesn’t really require much in the way of accessorizing.  The Stella and Bow Mean Girls collection makes me giggle inside every time I look at it.  And this bracelet is actually small enough for my super tiny wrists!  Double score!

My Valentine’s Day Look

DSC06403 Happy Valentine’s Day my loves!  I hope you all are getting showered with hugs and kisses from all your loved ones today!

My honey and I tend to celebrate Valentine’s Day not on the actual day.  We love doing the gorgeous pre-fix menus with wine pairing meals but sometimes it’s nice to go out a few days later and have the place to ourselves.  This year, we’re celebrating our 5th Valentine’s Day together later this weekend (plans still a little TBD).  I wanted to give you all a little sneak peek of my what I’ll be wearing!

The Diane von Furstenberg and Andy Warhol Collaboration is so colorful and amazing!  It basically spoke to me!  Now isn’t that a good enough excuse to purchase?  It’s a perfect nice but not over the top look.

Did I mention it's fun to twirl in?!

What I’m Wearing: Velvet Overalls

DSC06096

You read that right.  Today I’m wearing velvet overalls.  Like the ones we wore as kids… But velvet.  I got these babies on mega sale at ShopBop and couldn’t be happier.  I mean, just try having a bad day in overalls.  I bought these in a size larger than I normally would for comfort but pinned the front flap in a bit to give it a little more shape.  Just a small tip with wearing overalls would be to make everything else a little more ‘adult.’  Meaning, don’t wear ballet slippers or pig tails too.  Then you’ll just start looking silly.  Otherwise, have fun with it!  I was so surprised how many good comments I got while wearing these!  They might just become a staple!!
